Taking a Disney vacation with the family is one of the most enviable things of them all. So many people would love to be able to take the time off or afford the cost to take the family on a Disney vacation, so it is a good idea to do it right the first time-just in case you never get the opportunity to go back.

If you are travelling with the wife or husband, a nice hotel room is a great idea. If you are travelling with the whole family in tow, Orlando vacation Villas are the best idea. They are great for large groups or small families, have all the creature comforts of home, and often include certain perks that other vacation spots and hotels or motels might not offer.

There are certain areas to stay in when vacationing in Orlando. There are vacation rentals that are actually on Disney property and are owned by Disney. There are those vacation rentals that are situated right at the mouth of the park, and then there are those that are strategically placed in and around the Greater Orlando Area. Disney Owned Vacation Rentals

By far the most expensive of them all, the Disney owned vacation rentals are also the most fun for the family. They often have character dinners, special discounts on theme park tickets, free transportation and other perks that can make a Disney vacation truly memorable-especially for the kids. These are available on many sites, and can even be booked through a travel agent if that is who you have handling your travel affairs.

There are a good many benefits to staying on Disney property. It completes the Disney World experience for many young ones and families with any aged children, and it positions you right next to all of the Disney fun.

Vacation Rentals Right Outside Disney Property

If the on location experience is a bit too much for you price wise or otherwise, there are vacation rentals that are a bit more affordable and are placed right outside the theme park walls. These are often privately owned rentals that usually come at a substantially better price tag than the Disney owned rentals that are right on the property. In many cases these are just as nice and are still very conveniently close enough to all of the Disney attractions and traveling distance away from other Orlando fun.

Vacation Rentals in the Orlando Area

If you are okay with having to travel a little further to get into the Disney parks, perhaps the vacation rentals in the Orlando area that aren\’t right outside of the Disney walls may be a good idea. This is great for the family who has other plans for their Orlando vacation, plans that do not necessarily include one of the Disney parks. Believe it or not there are plenty of things to do in Orlando and not all of them are owned by the Walt Disney family. For this reason, it may be a good idea to stay somewhere other than on or near Disney property-especially if you have older kids in your party.

When renting a villa or any type of vacation rental in the Orlando area it is important to remember that there are many to choose from. You are not restricted to one area, especially if you will have your vehicle or a rental car to tote the family around in. Keep your options open as far as entertainment and lodging goes, and you may save some money and have great fun in the process.

Versailles

Versailles

Versailles, France is a posh suburb in Paris. It used to be France’s de facto capital, although it remains to be a seat of administrative and judicial power up to these times. Situated in the southwest, Versailles, France is about 17 kilometers (or 10 miles) away from the Parisian center. Although a top tourist destination by itself, like most of France, it is actually the Ch?teau de Versailles which makes Versailles famous throughout the world. Referred to in English as The Palace of Versailles, the chateau was built in those times when Versailles was only a country village and not a suburb of Paris as we know it today.

It was as early as 1038 when the name Versailles first appeared in a document, which was the Charter of the Saint-Père de Chartres Abbey. The village of Versailles was spread around a small castle and church, and in those days, the commune was headed by a lord. As ordered by Albert de Gondi, who was quite fond of hunting, the ch?teau was originally built in 1624 to be a hunting lodge. It was initially a small structure designed by Philibert Le Roy. Made of red bricks and stone, the structure was expanded eight years later as Louis XIV ordered. The Palace of Versailles, or simply called Versailles, is not only a building famous enough that you would want to travel and see it. It remains to be a symbol of the absolute power of the French monarchy.

Versailles: A famous destination in France

As the seat of tourism in Versailles, France, the chateau had been redecorated since its expansion by the most excellent artisans. Elaborate and opulent, it contains a splendid display of frescoes, marble, gilt and woodcarvings. Seemingly a tribute to the gods and goddesses of Greek and Roman mythology from which the designs were inspired, the chateau attracts more than 3 million tourists each year. These visitors include those coming from neighboring countries in Europe and even those from the most far-flung country in the globe. One of the main attractions that these visitors come to see is the splendid Hall of Mirrors. Famous on its own, the Hall of Mirrors is a long ballroom filled with seventeen large mirrors. Opposite these mirrors is an equivalent number of windows facing the sunset.

The chateau complex is so large that during its expansion, quite a number of hills had been flattened out and forests relocated to allow its gardens, ponds, and fountains to be laid out. The complex has four main sections. The main attraction would be the palace building, which by itself is a formidable structure 580 meters in length, with multiple wings, grand halls, and extravagant bedchambers (only a few are accessible to the public). The second section consists of the wide gardens, canals, and pools to the west of the palace. Lastly, there are the two outbuildings, the Grand Trianon and, a few hundred metres to the east, the Petit Trianon.

Tourists who wish to see the one of the world’s most famous building need to book their passes to the complex. However, these passes are good only for a day. Visitors may see sections of Versailles via a guided tour or they may also go their on their own. The crowds at the Chateau de Versailles reach a peak during the summer, which automatically corresponds with the tourism season in Versailles, France. After all, you can hardly enjoy walking kilometers-long gardens if you are drenched in the rain. You may also expect a lot more people in Chateau de Versailles on Tuesdays, when another famous tourist destination, The Louvre Museum, is closed.

Spas: Luxury, Indulgence and Life

February 4, 2009 · Filed Under Travel · Comment

The term spa originally was associated with places that offered water treatment. Today, spas of various kinds are available out there, offering you a full fledged body massage according to ancient Ayurvedic traditions of India to a pedicure or manicure session at the town spa. From treatments to indulgence, spas have a prominent spot in all major tourist destinations. Spa holidays or spa vacations are actively marketed by travel operators and you can find good spa holidays with very little searching.

Today, spa is a general term and it can mean a health resort, a beauty care salon, etc. You can also find pedicure or manicure processes at a spa. One thing that connects all kinds of spa is the luxury and class. If the spa is for treating various skin or physical conditions or if it is for just a few minutes of beauty treatment, a pedicure session, manicure session, head massage, neck massage, shoulder massage or foot massage, spas offer varying levels of indulgence, which holiday seekers can’t miss.

The attraction of spas is that, they are all stress busters. You will find the stress of the daily life and the toil of your profession are diluted and dissolved in a matter of a few minutes of treatment at the spa. Not all spas are built alike. However, the goal of them is the same –to give you some moments of luxury and comfort.

The oldest of all spas will be the mineral spas – the places that have mineral springs, like the springs that give out water that contains iron or other minerals needed by the body. Such spas were developed several centuries ago. People used to travel great distances on foot and on horseback to such spas, for their heeling powers. Today too, Ayurvedic spas in India, the spas in Thailand, Japan, China, etc attract people from all parts of the world, with promises of health and cure from various conditions.

Major hotels at tourist and business destinations also have spas. These spas can be of various kinds. Business meeting planners also look for hotels with spa facilities. They think they can give better value to their guests by offering a spa style treatment. Even a 30-minute session of hands-only shoulder and neck massage while sitting on a chair ensures some comfort and relaxation for the attendees. Similarly, luxury holiday seekers too find it beneficial booking a hotel with spa facilities.

So what will be your thoughts while choosing a spa? Is it just for half an hour of indulgence or will it be for some health benefits? It is also possible that you simply enjoy being pampered at a spa. Sometimes, as said before, you might want to give the guests of your business conference some good moments of relaxation? Before you book the spas, you can always do a research on the facilities available at the spas and how the previous visitors have benefited.

If it is time you planning your holiday or business trip, make sure you have access to spas, which not only gives you some minutes of pampering and stress-free bliss, but also some curative values.

Must See Places and Sightseeing of Guangzhou

February 4, 2009 · Filed Under Travel · Comment

Guangzhou is rich in history and modern day activity. As the capital and a sub-provincial city of Guangdong, the city and surrounding areas are often simply called by their provincial name in English, Canton. Because of Guangzhou’s large port on the Pearl River, navigable to the South China Sea, and 120 km (75 miles) northwest of Hong Kong, this is a bustling area.

The first known city built at the site of Guangzhou was Panyu, founded in 214 BC. Recent archaeological findings show a palace, which suggests that the city might have traded frequently with foreigners through sea routes. The foreign trade continued through every following dynasty and the city remained a major international trading port.

In 111 BC, the Han Dynasty annexed Nanyue, and Panyu became a provincial capital and remains so until this day. In 226 AD, the city however became the seat of the Guang Prefecture; therefore, “Guangzhou” was the name of the prefecture, not of the city. However, people grew accustomed to calling the city Guangzhou, instead of Panyu, and so the name has remained.

Today, many business travelers to Guangzhou take time to walk around the city, shop, and enjoy the city’s nightlife.

What are the top places to see while in Gangzhou? Here is our top seven based on Gangazhou’s districts.

1. Li Wan District - This district is situated on the western part of Guangzhou and is the city’s most developed district. It is also called and Guangzhou. Within Li Wan is Shang Xia Jiu Road Shopping, which boasts itself as a popular destination. This street is tightly packed with many old-style businesses, which include the Guangzhou Restaurant, Lian Xiang Mansion (Lotus Scent Mansion) and Ou Cheng Ji Gallery. Shoppers can shop to their hearts content, but the architecture is also worth a look at as well.

Li Wans other tourist attraction is Sha Mian Island, an islet in the Pearl River. Before China became independent in 1949, this island was rented out to Westerners. The heavily shaded island has a cluster of European-style buildings, including the United States’ consulate.

The White Horse Shopping Plaza and the Mediterranean Marketplace near the railway station form Guangzhou’s biggest wholesale clothing market, attracting many vendors from North China. The Qing Ping Market is South Chinas biggest market for agricultural products, which include vegetables, flowers, grain, meat, seafood, Chinese medicinal herbs and pets, as well as antiques. While in the Li Wan District you can take a night cruise on the Pearl River. They say you’ve never been to Guangzhou, if you did not experience a night cruise at the Pearl River.

2. Yue Xiu District - Located in central Guangzhou is the district’s claim to fame, the Beijing Road. There is prestigious shopping along Beijing Road and near it. The two most famous shopping areas include Yang Zhong Women’s Street, Gao Di Street, and The Fashion Street. Yue Xiu is also the political and cultural center of Guangzhou.

Under the Beijing Road stands ancient streets built 800 years ago. When the government excavated this part of the street they left it exposed so that visitors who are shopping can see the streets through glass.

3. Dong Shan District - Located on the eastern side of Guangzhou, the majority of this district developed after the Peoples Republic of China was founded in 1949. Qu Zhuang and Tao Jin Keng (means ‘Gold-digging Cave’) are notable business areas in Guangzhou. Most foreigners live here in Guangzhou. The Friendship Store, World Trade Plaza and other popular shopping venues are here, as are almost all of Guangzhous famous bars. The bars usually stock an English magazine called That’s Guangzhou, which is free, and provides all you need to know about the local community and entertainment options in the big city.

4. Da Sha Tou District - This district may be known as the electrical components and appliances capital of Guanghzhou. If you are in the market for new or used electrical merchandise, this is the place to shop, shop, shop. One of favorite one stop shopping stores of the locals is Hai Yin Electrical Appliances City.

5. Hai Zhu District - the Hai Zhu (Sea Pearl) Distric lies on the south side of The Pearl River, a river that neatly divides Guangzhou in half. Initially, Hai Zhu was home to the city’s largest factories. Now, however, residential apartment blocks have replaced most of the factories and this district feels more like a community.

Highlights of the Hai Zhu District include the Canton Fair Pazhou Exhibition Center, Sun Yat-Sen University, and the Pearl River Promenade.

6. Tian He District - This district has been the city of Guangzhou’s center for the past 15 years. The Tian He District could easily be called Guangzhous Silicon Valley. Pacific Electronic Technology Square, New Concept Computer Town and Nan Fang Computer City all have their roots in this district and together they create South Chinas biggest computer market.
Grandview and Teem are the largest shopping malls in the city. Both malls are only 300 meters away from each other along Tianhe Rd. in the north and Tianhe Nan 1 St. in the south.
7. Bai Yun District - Bai Yun Mountain (White Cloud) claims to be the rooftop of Guangzhou. Atop the mountain, you can enjoy a magnificent view of the city’s buildings and skyscrapers. Besides the breathtaking scenery and many historic sites, a restaurant on the mountaintop prepares a local treat of bean curd made with mountain mineral water.
